Gemini AI Update Lets You Automate Tasks with Scheduled Actions

Google has introduced a new update to its Gemini AI assistant, rolling out Scheduled Actions for Pro, Ultra, and selected Workspace users. This feature allows automation of repeated or one-time tasks, enhancing Gemini’s ability to assist users proactively in daily routines.

The Scheduled Actions feature lets users set specific tasks for Gemini to perform automatically at designated times or in response to events. Examples include receiving daily email summaries, weekly blog topic suggestions, or weather-driven outfit recommendations. Once programmed, Gemini executes these tasks independently, eliminating the need for manual follow-ups.

Users can program up to 10 active Scheduled Actions simultaneously. These can be managed through a dedicated “Scheduled Actions” tab within the Settings menu on both mobile and desktop platforms. Actions can be paused, edited, or removed as required. For tasks linked to locations, Gemini retains the original location information to ensure accuracy.

Notifications for these scheduled tasks appear as push alerts on mobile devices, designed to keep users informed without interrupting their workflow. This aligns with Google’s goal to evolve Gemini into a hands-free, intelligent assistant capable of anticipating user needs.

Google’s update comes amid rising competition in AI automation. OpenAI’s ChatGPT has also launched similar automation options for subscribers. By enabling task automation, Google aims to position Gemini not just as a conversational AI but as an active digital assistant that streamlines productivity.

With Scheduled Actions, Gemini moves beyond basic chatbot functionality, focusing on enhancing user convenience through automation. This addition marks a step forward in AI assistant capabilities, setting new standards for proactive digital help in everyday tasks.
